Hello my Lovely Friends!
I’ve been absent for a few months focusing on my mental health…and its been a really difficult journey. This week is ONE YEAR (!!) since quitting my corporate job in Washington, D.C. (WOHOO!) and moving back home to be with family to commit to my mental health recovery. Wow.
In July of 2020, my mental health reached such a critical point where I had to go on medical leave for 3 months. It really felt like—and was—a true rock bottom. And, it’s where my recovery journey began.
I was officially diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Severe Panic and Anxiety Disorder, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). However, since I’d gone untreated for over 10 years, I was told to prepare for a long recovery journey.
I was definitely unprepared.
After 3 months of leave, I wasn’t healthy enough to return to work, and I needed a lot more support than I was able to get living alone, an ocean away from my family. Hence came the decision to leave my old life behind, and really commit to building a new one–a healthier, more sustainable, happier, and abundant one. First step: MH recovery.
Here, I dive into what this 9-5 free, yet 100% mental health-committed year has really been like. All of the highs (eh), lows (ugh), and in betweens (insightful!)
Trigger Warning: Suicidal thoughts, depression, anxiety, PTSD
